My Top 5 Beauty Resolutions For 2014!

Hey, B&B friends! I know what you’re probably thinking… January’s almost over and you’re posting a beauty resolutions post? Well, yes I am! (Better late than never!) Here are my top 5 beauty resolutions for 2014!

1. Go glam or go home

I’ve gotten so much Glamspiration from Hollywood’s newest It-girl, Lupita Nyong’o this year. She’s looked nothing shy of perfection on every red carpet that she’s graced and I’m loving every moment of it! This year, I’ve made it my duty to put a little more effort into looking my best… and the motto is “Go glam or go home!” *Cue Beyoncé’s song#Flawless*

2. Grow out my hair

A few months ago, I went through a phase where I became bored with my look and contemplated cutting my hair. While, I loved the way I looked in my short wig, my motives behind making the big chop (again) were to start  over from scratch to grow strong, healthy hair. I’ve been going through a phase where it seems as though my hair’s growth has stunted. It went from growing like a weed when I first cut it to, not surpassing shoulder-length. This year I’ve decided to really focus on nurturing my hair. I’m a naturally curly girl, so my plan is to eat healthier, drink more water, co-wash and deep condition more, incorporate more hot oil treatments into my regimen and lastly, to keep my hair moisturized! Wish me luck!

3.Experiment with nail art

Nail art has always been a weakness of mine. I consider myself to be a creative person, but drawing has never been a strength of mine and doing it on a small canvas like a nail bed is an even harder task for me! But I’m not going to limit myself to not trying out of fear of ending up with a hot-mess-mani. I mean, that’s clearly why Nail Rock Nail Foil Kits exist! You can have fun nail art without the fuss! I’ve dabbled in nail art a little (Remember this tutorial to get the nail look in the above picture?), but I want to really have more fun and see what amazing looks I can come up with!

4. Brush up on my makeup skills

I’m ready to channel my inner Joan Smalls and be more glamorous and daring when it comes to rocking a gorgeously beat face! I’m excited about getting a crease-free, understated finish on my beauty looks and by all mean I will perfect that J-Lo glow! I’m not saying that I’m bad at applying my makeup, but I’m interested in becoming more skilled at application, using the proper brushes and mixing colors for a truly perfect match. Plus, I love a nice lipstick cocktail so this should be fun!

5. Exfoliate more

Around this time last year, I was in Chicago and my skin was glowing! My complexion was clear, my skin was blemish-free and it felt amazing. Now, I’m back in Florida and my skin and with the climate-change my skin tends to get oily more often. As a result of this, I found myself avoiding moisturizers and falling off the bandwagon with exfoliating my skin. In Chicago I was constantly removing excess skin and thoroughly moisturizing and the look of my skin reflected it. Now, I’m going back to basics and will be incorporating my tried-and-true St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub back into my skincare routine.

What are your 2014 beauty resolutions, B&B friends? Any bad beauty habits you plan on kicking this year?
