I’m Starting My Yoga Journey

Hey B&B friends, I’ve been bitten by the yoga bug and I’m documenting my new yogi journey right here on the blog!

I tried yoga for the first time some years ago when I was in college. I was a huge fan of group fitness classes and decided to give it a go after a friend asked me to join her. My first impression wasn’t blah. I felt bored and didn’t see the benefits of holding poses and and focusing on my breathing. I left the hour-long class within 20 minutes. I was used to High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), spinning and strenuous boot camp workouts so in my head the Hatha Yoga poses weren’t working my muscles the way I thought they should.

Fast-Forward to now and I realize that not only was I wrong about yoga not being a great workout, but I was totally depriving myself of the mental, spiritual and physical benefits of practicing yoga!

A few months ago my office started offering weekly yoga classes. Since it was affordable and only a short walk away, I started attending them and got instantly addicted to the way I felt after each session. I felt more relaxed, I was more aware of my posture and I was definitely working muscles that I didn’t even know existed. My core was on fire!

I’m definitely in beginner mode and I’m learning a lot about the practice of yoga every time I’m on the mat. I’m excited to share my new fitness journey with you all. I’m new to this, so if you have resources, tips and suggestions for beginner yogis, don’t hesitate to share them!

Ciao Bellas,

    • I totes understand. It can definitely be intimidating, especially in the beginning phase. Go for it if you want to, though! The practice really is for you and about you growing… mind body and soul.
