Earlier this week my BF and I decided to spend the evening in downtown Tampa for some bike riding and relaxing. There are some really cute parts of this area so I suggested that we shoot some outfit pics for the blog. My BF is  amazing (And FINE! LOL ) and was down to take some pics. It was late in the evening when we arrived downtown so our main concern was losing the light from the sun.

We were basically in a race to beat the sun and things were a little chaotic. I took pictures for another outfit post prior to this, so I rushed to change my clothes and to tweak my makeup. We ran to this location and pretty much dodged a train along the way.  (Not gonna lie, it was fun and adventurous!)  By the time we made it to our destination, I was frazzled and felt like my hair and makeup were pretty much a mess. Quite simply… I. Felt. Rushed.

Yesterday, I was reading this post from my girl Channing of Channing in the City about the importance of being still and it really resonated with me. Not because of the crazy effort that went into shooting these pics, but on a larger scale. I’m constantly on-the-go and wondering how I can improve myself. Whether it’s being better at my day job, dedicating more time to creating quality content for the blog or brainstorming ways that I can assist my friends and loved ones with their passions and dreams–my brain is always on!

This week I’ve set a goal to spend more time in meditation. I have to pray more, rest more and reflect more. I love being a creative thinker who’s willing to do the work to accomplish my goals, but I’ve always believed that you have to plan for what you pray for. So instead of racing to beat the sun because I have an extensive to-do list to complete, I’m going to take a moment and to reflect on the goods things, pray for what I want and prepare for when it comes.

You can snag this fierce orange Topshop Cutout Romper at Nordstrom! Hurry it’s on sale!
