5 Tips & Tricks for Easy On-The-Go Beauty

On the go beauty tips promotional image

I would definitely describe myself as a girl-on-the-go and my beauty routine has to accommodate my lifestyle. There are times when I’d rather sleep-in than wake up to apply makeup or give myself a fresh manicure. That’s why I’ve learned to navigate my personal care landscape with some quick and easy tips that make on-the-go beauty easy-peasy. Check them out.

1. Use multipurpose makeup.

Multifunctional beauty products are definitely a makeup lover’s best friend, especially when you’re pressed for time! Products that multitask can alleviate a lot of the worry of having to pack multiple products and it also takes the guess-work out of creating your look of the day. One of my favorite multi-use products is Tyra Beauty Light in a Stick Highlighter. Not only does this make an amazing highlighter, but I use it as eyeshadow too. Clear mascara can also be used as brow gel and vice versa. Don’t be afraid to get a little creative with your products, but be sure to read the labels and do you research to ensure you aren’t using a product in a way that could cause you harm.

2. Swap out nail polish for nail stickers or press-ons.

I’m really bad about keeping my nails polished. I’m a bit of a frugalista in this department, so maintaining a fab manicure takes effort on my part. If I’m in a rush, having fly nails is the least of my problems. Having a glam mani is pretty much a wrap… and I mean that literally. One of my go-to, time-saving alternatives for nail polish is using nail wraps or fashionable press-on nails (Don’t sleep on the power of fabulous press-ons!). A few of my favorite brands are NCLA , Sally Hansen Salon Effects and imPress

3. Keep face wipes handy…ALWAYS.

On-the-go beauty isn’t always applicable to the hustle and bustle of mornings, it also applies to the afternoon and/or evening rush! That’s why it’s always a great idea to keep makeup wipes handy. I rub my eyes often and sometimes that leads to runny eyeliner or smudged mascara, having makeup wipes handy is a great way to quickly tidy up your makeup. If you’re heading from the office to the gym, face wipes also come in handy because you don’t want to clog your pores with makeup while you work up a sweat.

4. Put beauty samples to use.

How many times have you received beauty samples from a subscription box or beauty counter and let them collect dust because you didn’t use them? (If you’re a product junkie like me you’re probably thinking: “Girl, never!” LOL) Using your beauty samples is very commuter-friendly because they don’t take up a lot of space and are usually packaged for easy use. I keep an emergency makeup bag in my purse that contains sample-sized beauty products like mascara, a concealer pen, eyeliner pencils, lotion, a small eyeshadow palette (that I also use as blush) and lipstick. These are my go-to products on a daily basis, regardless of if I wear a full face of makeup or not. This is my little mobile vanity!

5. Adopt the motto that less is more.

Less really is more when you’re short on time within your beauty regimen. This rule applies to the amount of products that you keep handy (I keep about 6 products in my on-the-go makeup bag) as well as the amount of product that you apply. For on-the-go beauty, I skip foundation, apply a bit of concealer for a pretty simple face look, add mascara (and maybe eyeliner) and let me lips steal the show with a bold color. Some days I go dramatic with a cat-eye and lip balm. It varies, but if you let one part of your face be the focus for a quick beauty look it makes for easy execution.
